Stofzuig tip / Vaccuum cleaning trick

Vanmorgen was ik aan het stofzuigen. Ik heb een frans hangoor konijn, Lotje, dat momenteel vreselijk in de rui is. Alle ronddwarrelende vlokken haar haal ik dagelijks weg. Voor haar ook wel zo prettig.

This morning I was vaccuum cleaning. I have a big rabbit, Lotje. She is moulting terrible right now. I daily clean up the flying around hair in the room. Also nice for her, but especially for me.

 Voor haar vacht kocht ik een Furminator. Oke, 37 euro voor een konijnen kam is niet erg goedkoop. Maar het werkt ongelooflijk! Alle losse onderwol komt los, die anders door mijn huis wordt verspreid. Lotje loopt namelijk los. Het is een welopgevoed konijn. Ze gaat op de kattenbak. 's Nachts gaat ze in haar bench, maar overdag is ze daar ook graag met Aapje, haar grote vriend. Toen ze nog heel klein was, vonden we het een beetje zielig om haar zo alleen in een hok te laten. Met Aapje was het liefde op het eerste gezicht. Ze geeft hem regelmatig een wasbeurt en slaapt graag tegen hem aan. En ze kijkt altijd een beetje betrapt als je er een foto van wil maken ;-)
We hebben haar opgevoed met behulp van onderzoek over "konijnentaal". Ik kan het iedereen aanraden. Door middel van deze bevindingen, kan je makkelijk laten weten wat ze wel of niet mag, wat resulteert in een voorbeeldig konijn en je leert haar karakter goed kennen. Het houden van een konijn wordt fantastisch. Het zijn zulke geweldige en sociale dieren! Zo kijkt Lotje altijd mee tv en komt ze regelmatig even om aandacht of eten vragen. 

For her fur, I bought a Furminator. I agree that 37 euro is a lot of money for a rabbit comb, but hey, it works amazingly! All the loose fur comes loose, which will otherwise be spread through my house. Lotje is always running free. We raised her to get very good manners. She goes to a cat toilet. We only put her in her bench at night, but during the day she also likes to be there with Monkey, her big friend. When Lotje was very little, we thought it would be sad, leaving her alone in the bench. With Monkey it was love at first sight. She regularly washes him and she likes to sleep against him. And she always looks a bit "caught in the act" when you're trying to make a picture of this love ;-)
We raised her with this article about "rabbit language". I can recommand it to everyone. With this way of communication, you can easily learn nice behaviour, to result in a really likeable rabbit and learn about their character. Keeping a rabbit will be fantastic! They are such nice and social creatures. Lotje always watches tv with us and she often taps on your toes for food or attention.

Omdat de stofzuiger -oh ja, daar ging het over- de laatste tijd niet altijd een hele frisse geur verspreid, wat waarschijnlijk te maken heeft met alle troep die we opzuigen, heb ik iets uitgevonden. Als je net een nieuwe zak in je stofzuiger doet, zuig dan was waspoeder op voordat je begint. Zolang als die zak in de stofzuiger zit, blijf je tijdens het zuigen een heerlijke frisse geur door je huis verspreiden. Probeer het maar eens!

The vaccuum cleaner -oh, that was what I was trying to say- isn't so fresh lately, spreading a technical, oilish smell, probably because of all the rubbish we clean up with it I guess. But now, I found a remedy! When you've put a new bag in your vaccuum cleaner, suck a handfull of washing powder before you begin the job. As long as the bag will be in the vaccuum cleaner, it will spread a nice fresh smell in your house. Just try it once!

Het is herfst!/ It's autumn!

Afgelopen week was ik regelmatig in het bos. Om te fietsen, om te lopen, met mijn laarzen in het natte zand. Het is nu een paar dagen herfst. En dat zie je aan het licht dat verandert en aan de vochtigheid boven de grond en de geur in de lucht. En natuurlijk aan alle paddestoelen! Dat inspireerde mij eerder tot mijn eigen paddestoel, weliswaar met muziek erin. Een fijne herfst!

This week I often went to the forrest near the village where I live. To bike, to walk, with my boots in the wet sand. It's autumn now. You can see it by the changing light en the moist above the ground and the smell of the air. And ofcourse the mushrooms! That inspired me before to make my own mushroom, but with music inside. Have a happy autumn!

Veranderen van onderwerp naar koude voeten/ Changing the subject to cold feet

Oh oh, wat had ik een pech vorige week. Ik had een heel leuk idee voor lavendelzakjes. Ik wilde eerst een zakje stikken van heel transparant wit katoen en daar een hoesje omheen haken en dichtbinden met een zelf gehaakt bandje van bloemetjes. Klinkt leuk toch? Bij de naaimachine ging het plan al fout. Die wil niet meer stikken. Ik heb hem helemaal uit elkaar gehad, maar ik denk dat het te wijten is aan zijn hoge leeftijd. Of aan de dikte, of liever gezegd zeer dunne stof. Dus moest ik mezelf met wat anders vermaken...

Oh, what a misfortune I had last week. I had a nice idea for lavender bags. At first I wanted to sew a little bag of transparent white cotton and crochet a nice bottom around it and tightening it with a self made lace of little flowers. Sounds nice right? The plan went terribly wrong with the sewing machine. It doesn't want to sew anymore. I took it all apart, but I think it will be the high age of the machine, or the very thin fabric may be. So I had to make something different to entertain myself with...

Sinds het weer zo is omgeslagen had ik al tijden last van koude voeten. Door middel van een fikse bal gekleurde sokkenwol heb ik daar iets op gevonden...tadaaa!

Since the wheather has changed to cold and rainy, I had very cold feet. With a big ball of coulored wool I found something for them....tah-dah!

Vanmorgen ben ik op de bank gekropen met een bak warme thee voor de start van een nieuw project. Gaaf kussen trouwens he? Ik kocht hem voor 15 euro bij Jolandelijk.

This morning I made myself comfortable on my couch with a warm cup of tea to start a new project. Do you like the pillow? I bought it for 15 euro at Jolandelijk.

Hondenweer / Bad wheather

Brrrr, wat is het toch vies, nat weer vanmorgen. De regen komt met bakken uit de lucht. Echt Hollands herfstweer! Gelukkig zit ik lekker binnen, droog en warm, met mijn ochtendbakkie koffie met één schepje suiker en een dikke stroofwafel. En mijn haakwerkje binnen handbereik...
Yak, the wheather is very wet this morning. It's raining cats and dogs. Real Dutch autumn wheather! I'm very happy I'm inside, dry and warm, with my morning coffee with one teaspoon of sugar and a big stroopwafel. That's a Dutch cookie, a round waffle with syrup in it. Very delicious. When you're in Holland sometime, you simply have to try it once.
And ofcourse I also have my crochet within my reach...

Mijn tuin is helemaal doorweekt en de hangmat waarin ik dit weekend zo heerlijk in het zonnetje lag, is nu een eenzame standaard. En kijk naar mijn tuinmeubels...het water druipt eraf!

My little garden is totally soaked and the hammock I dangled in so nicely this weekend, is now a lonely frame. And look at my garden furniture...all wet!

Het wordt herfst en het is tijd voor regenjassen, laarzen en... een comfortabele sjaal. Zoals dit project waaraan ik werk, een ajourmodel in offwhite, roze, grijsblauw en bruin in Egyptisch katoen. Comfortabel en nog niet te warm, een echte herfstsjaal.

It's autumn and time for rain coats, boots and... a comfortabel scarf. Like this project I'm working on, an ajourmodel in offwhite, pink, grey blue and braun in egyptian cotton. Comfortabel and not yet too warm, a real autumn scarf.

Maar er zijn nog dingen die me aan de zomer herinneren... Voor de regendagen hebben we alle lavendel uit de voortuin (en dat is een heleboel) gesnoeid en in de schuur te drogen gelegd.
But I have something in my room which reminds me of summer... Before the rain started, we have cut all the lavender from our garden at the front (and that's a lot of lavender), and we've dried it in our shed.

Het is lavendula augustfolia, de sterkst geurende soort die vooral in Zuid Frankrijk wordt gebruikt voor parfums en geurolie. En voor geurzakjes! Dat wil ik er nu dus van gaan maken. Ik heb op vakantie de meest prachtige zakjes gezien. Geborduurd (wat ik niet kan) en schitterend gestikt. Maar er moet toch ook een manier zijn om een leuk zakje te haken? Dat wordt mijn projectje vanmiddag!
It's lavendula augustfolia, the lavender with the strongest scent. This kind of lavender is known especially from the french parfums and oils. And from scented bags! I want to make my own. On my holiday I saw some very beautifull bags. Embroidered (but I can't) and beautifully stitched. But I'm looking for a way to crochet my bags! That will be my project for this afternoon!

Zoals mijn haakmand van een paar posts geleden al verraadde, ben ik tijdens mijn vakantie aan de slag gegaan met een GSB, een granny square blanket, een deken van gehaakte vierkantjes. Een paar weken geleden was ik hier al aan begonnen, al voor mijn blog startte. Ik had namelijk een overschot aan acryl garen en een overschot aan tijd. Ik had het hier nog niet verteld, maar ik zit sinds begin juni thuis met een burn out. Ik heb hele moeilijke momenten gehad, waar ik langzamerhand uitkrabbel. En wat helpt daar beter bij dan het maken van een GSB. Therapeutisch werken, elke dag een paar viekantjes en je deken zien groeien, zoals je zelf groeit...
Like my crochet basket showed a few posts ago, I was busy crocheting during my holiday. I was working on my GSB, a granny square blanket, a blanket made of crocheted squares. A few weeks ago I already started this project, before I even had this blog. I had a lot of acrylic yarns and a lot of time. I didn't tell you yet, but I am home since the beginning of june with a burn out. I've had a very difficult time and I just slowly get better. What really helps is making a GSB. Crocheting my way out, every day a few squares and whatching the blanket growing, like I grow myself...

Eerst vervaardig je een paar mooie squares in je favoriete kleuren. Zoveel combinaties als je wilt, zoveel vierkantjes als je wilt, haken en combineren en verder haken...
First you make a few beautifull squares in your favourite colours. As much combinations as you like, as much squares as you like, crocheting and combining and crocheting...

Ik heb hier een patroon voor granny squares gebruikt dat ik ergens op een website tegenkwam, alleen weet ik niet meer welke. Ik schreef het in mijn patroonschrift en nu, een jaar later gebruik ik het.
Je start met het maken van een granny rondje en ook bij de 2e kleur blijft de granny nog rond. Pas bij de 3e kleur maak je er een vierkantje van. En vervolgens maak je er nog één en nog één en als je er dan genoeg hebt, haak je ze aan elkaar met wit garen. Ik heb erop gelet dat de vierkantjes van kleur verspringen, maar je kan het natuurlijk net zo maken als je zelf wil.
I have used a pattern for granny squares which I got from the internet, but I'm not sure which website it was. I wrote it in my pattern notebook and now, a year later, I use it.
You start with making a granny round and also with the second colour you stay crocheting in rounds. With the third colour, it goes in squares. And make a new one. And when you've made enough, you crochet them all together with some white yarn. I've made sure the squares changed colour quickly, but you can combine them as you like.

Ik ben van plan om er een joekel van een deken van te maken voor ons eigen tweepersoons lits jumeaux bed. Dan heb ik nog behoorlijk wat vierkantjes te gaan natuurlijk. Één vierkantje is 10 cm breed en 10 cm hoog, dus ik heb zeker 20 vierkantjes in de breedte x 20 vierkantjes in de lengte = 400 vierkantjes nodig. Ik ben nog niet eens op de helft. Het is wel zonde om zoveel werk te verkopen. Maar misschien als ik een heel goed aanbod krijg...
I'm planning to make a really enormous blanket for our lits jumeaux bed. But then I need a lot of squares. One square is 10 cm x 10 cm, so I need 20 squares x 20 squares = 400 squares at least. I'm not even on 200! It would be a pity to loose the blanket by selling it, but may be, when the offer is really good...

Over mijn webwinkel gesproken...de bouw liep een beetje spaak omdat ik niet begreep hoe ik links kon maken zonder dat die onderstreept werd. Maar vandaag is het me gelukt! Het model is nu af en ik hoef alleen nog de producten toe te voegen. Ik ben erg benieuwd wat jullie ervan vinden!
Talking about my webshop...the building of it took a big relay. I didn't understand how to make links that weren't underlined. But today I managed it! The format is finished so I only need to put the products in there. I'm very excited what you will think of it!

Beatrix Potter

Vandaag is mijn moeder jarig! Ik had al wat kadootjes voor haar gekocht, maar kon eigenlijk nèt niet dat speciale kado voor haar vinden. In tegenstelling tot haar dochter is mijn moeder gek op borduren. Maar ook naaien. Voor haar verjaardag heeft ze dan ook een nieuwe naaimachine gekregen. Een Hobby van Pfaff.

Today it's my mothers birthday! I've already bought some gifts, but I couldn't find that special one for her. In contrary of her daughter, my mum loves to embroider. And like me to sew. For her birthday she's got a new sewing machine; a Hobby from Pfaff.

Dat is echt een handig apparaat. Het naait zelfs knopen aan!

It's a very useful machine. It even sews buttons!

Ik had een klein naaisetje samengesteld van standaard kleuren garen en spoeltjes voor haar nieuwe naaimachine, maar ik wilde haar ook nog iets voor haar borduur hobby geven. Ik vond in een klein handwerkwinkeltje bij ons in het dorp dit vreselijk leuke boekje met borduurpatroontjes van Beatrix Potter:

I made a little sewing set for her; standard colored sewing yarns and little spindles for her new sewing machine. But I also wanted to give her something for her embroidering. I found a very cute book in a small craft shop in town with embroidery pattern from Beatrix Potter:

Alle patroontjes zijn echt origineel van Beatrix Potter en het borduur resultaat is dus bijna hetzelfde als een plaatje uit een boekje. Briljant! Er staan ook leuke ideetjes in voor kussenslopen, tassen en andere variaties met de patronen. Echt een aanrader! Ze was er heel erg blij mee.

All the patterns are originals from Beatrix Potter, so the result will be almost the same as a picture from her book. Brilliant! There are also nice ideas inside for pillows, bags and other variations to use the patterns for. A nice book to buy! She was very pleased with it.

Terug / Back

Hier ben ik dan weer, terug van weg geweest. We hebben een heerlijke vakantie gehad in een schitterend huis middenin de Provence.
I'm back again! We had a wonderfull holiday in a beautifull house in the Provence.

Er was een schitterend oprijlaantje midden tussen de druiven.

We had a nice lane in the middle of wineyards.

En het huis was in één woord geweldig, mooi gerestaureerd met oude luiken en deuren en brocante meubels.

And the house was just great, restaured with old details and old wooden doors with antique french furniture.

Uiteraard was ook een flinke voorraad haakwerk mee. Hier zie je al een preview van mijn nieuwste creatie.

Ofcourse I took my crochet too. Here is a preview of my newest creation.

En aten we de heerlijkste pasta op een terras in Lacoste met uitzicht op Bonnieux in maanlicht. Morgen meer, maar nu moet ik echt naar bed. Slaap lekker!
