Aanhechten zonder knoop/ Joining yarn without a knot

Breien is soms een leuke bezigheid. In mijn geval betekent dat niet te moeilijk en liefst recht toe recht aan. Voor mijn kleine spruit heb ik me gewaagd aan de start van een Nieuw Baby Project, namelijk een wiegdeken. In een simpele rechte steek. Van katoen en in een onregelmatig streeppatroon met groen en wit en wat accentkleurtjes blauw, oranje en aqua. Even was ik vergeten dat aanhechten mijn hobby niet was... Tot ik deze methode op You Tube tegen kwam. Midden in je toer onzichtbaar aanhechten. Ook mogelijk met een draad van 100% katoen. Wat een genot is dat! Nu kan ik gewoon doorbreien, met een enorme bol katoen. Ja, zo is breien nog wel leuk...

Knitting sometimes is a nice way keeping you busy. In my case it means the pattern needs to be simple and straight on. For my little one I began a New Baby Project, a baby blanket. In a simple garter stitch. Of cotton and in a stripy pattern in green and white with accents of blue, orange and aqua. For a moment I forgot that joining threads just was not my greatest joy in life... Untill I saw this method on You Tube. Joining threads in the middle of your work without seeing it. Also possible with 100% cotton. What a joy! Now I just can go on and on with a giant cotton ball. Yes, knitting IS fun like this...

Breien en haken/ Knitting and crochet in Nieuwegein

Bij het surfen op internet vond ik een nieuw voor mij nog onbekend brei- en haakevenement: de breidag. Het duurt twee dagen, namelijk op vrijdag 13 en zaterdag 14 april en het is voor breiers en hakers die wol en aanverwante artikelen willen aanschaffen, leuke nieuwe patronen willen scoren of workshops willen volgen. Er komt een beroemde brei designer uit Schotland Ysolda, Annemarie Arts (bekend van oa. de boekjes "gelukspoppetjes haken" en "babyspeelgoed haken") is er op zaterdag om demonstraties te geven, er is een patronendokter die je kan helpen als je bent vastgelopen bij het breien of haken en er is een ruilbeurs voor je oude bollen wol of de left-overs.

While surfing on the internet I found a new event for knitters and crocheters: the knitting day. It lasts 2 days, on friday the 13th and saturday the 14th of april. The event is suitable for knitters and crocheters who want to buy wool or related articles, nice new patterns or who want to do workshops. On the event there are also famous people: a knitting designer from Scotland Ysolda, Annemarie Arts will give a demonstration on saturday (she is known from different dutch pattern books) and there will also be a pattern doctor to help you solve your pattern problems. There is also a yarn trading market for the wools you don't use anymore.

Nieuwe patronen! / New patterns!

Lieve allemaal, wat is het lang geleden dat ik een stukje voor mijn blog schreef. Dat had natuurlijk alles met de drukte rondom mijn babyslofjes te maken. Wat heb ik veel verkocht! Er was niet meer tegenop te haken. Maar ik was ook druk met wat anders...
Dearest everyone, what a long time since I have been here. That was offcourse because of the business with hooking the booties for the magazine. I sold a lot! After a while I couldn't keep up with the orders anymore. But I was also busy with something else...

Want afgelopen maand ben ik ENORM beroerd geweest. De wcpot vaker gezien dan mijn eigen man. Dagen stil op bed gelegen om maar rustig te blijven en me niet zieker te voelen. Medicijnen tegen het uitdrogen gekregen, omdat ik werkelijk niets binnen kon houden. Gelukkig gaat het inmiddels wat beter en ben ik halve dagen op. Bovendien is het voor een goed doel, want....IK BEN ZWANGER!!!
Zo erg zwanger dat ik mijn spijkerbroeken niet meer dicht krijg. Wat toch feitelijk een wonder is, aangezien ik bijna niks heb gegeten afgelopen maand...
Because last month I was EXTREMELY sick. I saw the toilet a lot more than my own husband. For days I laid still in my bed hoping to stay calm and resting would make me feel less sick. After a while I got pills against dehydration. I'm happy to tell you I'm a little bit better now and I'm able to stay up for half a day. After all it's for a good reason, because....I'M PREGNANT!!!
So very pregnant I can't close my jeans anymore, which is quite a miracle, because I didn't eat almost anything last month...

Gratis breipatronen

Hoera, de Telegraaf deed het weer: een nieuwe versie gratis breipatronen, voor kinderkleding dit keer. Als je geen abonement hebt op de Telegraaf (heb ik ook niet), niet getreurd...op internet staan ze ook. Klik op deze link en download ze. Mijn absolute favoriet is deze poncho. Dit is voor het eerst dat ik het jammer vind, dat ik geen 16 meer ben, maar met wat kleine patroonaanpassingen...wie weet...

My favorite pattern is this poncho. The pattern is for girls till 16. This is the first time I'm sorry I'm not 16 anymore...but with a few bigger pieces...who knows...

We hebben warme kleding zeker nodig met dit weer, bah, het lijkt wel herfst. Ik hoop nog op een paar mooie nazomerdagen. En als die nou net op mijn trouwdag zou vallen...helemaal niet erg ;-) Maar vooralsnog blijf ik lekker warm op de bank met mijn nieuwe patroontjes.
We will need those warm clothes with this weather. It really looks like autumn already. I still hope for a few nice sunny days. And when they coincidently will be on my weddingday....I really won't mind ;-) But now, I will stay at my couch, nice and warm (and dry!) with my new patterns.

Babybreien/ Baby knitting

Oh, wat is het lang geleden dat ik voor het laatst heb geblogd! Ik ben ook zo druk geweest met vanalles. We hebben zelf kaarten ontworpen voor onze trouwdag, bruidsjurk doorgepast, op zoek naar een geschikte fotograaf in fotografenland en voor je het weet...is het weer bijna juli. Dus we moeten nu toch echt even bijpraten...
Ohh, it's such a long time ago since I blogged! I was so busy making cards for our wedding, fitting my wedding dress and searching for the right fotographer and before you know it, it's almost july. So I really need a chitchat now...

Afgelopen weken ben ik totaal verliefd geworden op Phildar. Ookal vind ik het garen ontzettend duur, de katoenen zijn van prachtige kwaliteit. En zeg nou eerlijk...waar vind je zulke mooie kleuren?
Last weeks I totally fell in love with the yarns of Phildar. Although the yarn is quite expensive, the cottons are from good quality. And be honest...where do you find these beautiful colours?

Ik heb met name Aviso en Thalassa gekocht. Niet goedkoop, maar als je het klein houdt, dan is het makkelijk te doen. Vooral de Thalassa is enorm zacht. Er zit een anti-bacterieel materiaal in en dat is voor baby's natuurlijk handig.
I bought Aviso and Thalassa. Not very cheap, but when it's a small project, it's not that expensive. The Thalassa is very soft. It contains anti-bacterial material and that's ofcourse very useful for babies.

Ik was voor mijn werk in Veenendaal en toevallig had ik een uurtje over. Nou, die bleek erg goed van pas te komen, want ik heb een enorm leuk winkeltje ontdekt...Jackies atelier! Het is een schattig klein huisje in de achtertuin van een boerderij met werkelijk prachtige garens van Phildar, Drops, maar ook mooie stoffen van Tilda en vilt in allerlei kleuren. Ik heb er een uur doorgebracht en vertrok uiteindelijk met een tas voor moois voor de volgende projecten. Uit dit boek...
I was in Veenendaal for my work and had an hour left. Well, it was very useful, because I found a very nice shop...Jackies atelier! It's a sweet little house in the backyard of a farm with delicious yarns of Phildar and Drops, the nices fabrics of Tilda and felt in all kinds of colours. I spent an hour there and left with a bag full of beautiful yarns for my next projects. From this book:

Speciaal voor de niet zo geoefende breisters onder ons heeft Phildar een boekje gemaakt met heel duidelijke uitleg voor Absolute Beginners.
For the not-so-excersised knitters Phildar made a book with very clear instructions for Absolute Beginners.

En de uitleg is ook echt niet moeilijk. Zie hieronder. Zelfs met duidelijke tekeningetjes en in kleur de verschillende maatversies.

En omdat ik boven de 50 euro zat, mocht ik ook nog een extra tijdschrift van Phildar uitzoeken! Ik koos deze...

Maar voordat ik begin, moet ik eerst mijn oude klussen afmaken: een bal met een rammeltje erin en een babydeken van 1.20 bij 1.50 die met dit weer heel behoorlijk begint op te schieten. Mijn mannen zijn fietsen in België vandaag. Tis maar waar je zin in hebt met dit weer. Maar hopelijk kan ik de laatste 25 cm vandaag afmaken. En binnenkort natuurlijk de blije gezichten van het babytje en haar ouders voor wie hij bestemd is.
But before I get started, I need to finish my old projects first: a ball with a little rattle in it and a big baby blanket of 1.20 by 1.50 metres. I beginning to knit the last centimetres, so hopefully it'll soon be finished. My men are biking in Belgium today. I don't know why with this weather, but well...there's a hobby for everyone ofcourse....

Maar nu ga ik eerst eens mijn tabouleh opeten. Van mijn schoonmoeder kreeg ik een receptenboekje uit Frankrijk met een heerlijk recept. Het smaakt opperbest! Dus ik kruip nu weer terug op de bank met mijn kop thee, mijn tabouleh en mijn breiwerk en we gaan nog wat centimeters maken vandaag.
But first I will eat my tabouleh. I got this recipe book from my mother in law from France. It tastes like heaven! So I will retreat to my couch with my tea, my tabouleh and my needle work and make some more centimetres today.

Wildroute

Vanmorgen was ik in Harderwijk voor mijn werk. Ik reed in mijn auto nietsvermoedend over de Stationsstraat toen ik opeens oog in oog kwam te staan met een paar prachtig ingepakte bomen. Juist...wildbreiers in de buurt. Helaas had ik mijn camera niet bij me (stom!) maar eenmaal thuis gekomen, zie ik dat ze zelfs een complete wildbrei-route hebben! Als je eens in de buurt bent...kijken!!!

This morning I was in Harderwijk for work. I drove my car through the Stationsstraat when suddenly my eye fell on several wildknitted trees. So beautiful! Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera. Pak het in / Wrap it up

Op eerste Paasdag ben ik naar een franse fair geweest. Het werd gehouden bij een kasteel en had een heerlijk brocante karakter (Amis de France). Naast de crépes met aarbeien en slagroom en de vele flesjes water die we nuttigden (het was erg warm) en de leuke brocante spulletjes die ik heb aangeschaft (Jolanda stond er met Jolandelijk), heb ik ook een leuke potentiële trouwauto gevonden.

On the first Easter day I went to a french fair. It was kept at a castle and had a dilicious brocante character. The fair was called Amis de France. We had crèpes with strawberries and whipped cream and a lot of water because the weather was very hot. We bought some very nice brocante stuff. Jolanda from Jolandelijk was there and yet I couldn't resist... After all I also found a nice potential wedding car.

Maar ik heb ook flink gehaakt. Ik had een aantal bestellingen gekregen voor de HaakFabriek. Twee rammelaars en een grote uil stonden op het menu. En die heb ik zojuist afgemaakt en ingepakt. Helaas zat ik ergens anders met mijn gedachten en heb ik van de rammelaars geen foto gemaakt (grrr), maar van de uil gelukkig wel.

But I also crocheted a lot. I had some orders from "de HaakFabriek". Two rattles and a big owl were on my menu. And just now they're finished and wrapped up. Unfortunately my mind was somewhere else so I forgot to fotograph the rattles, but I made one from the owl.

De uil maakte ik van 100% katoen en veiligheidsogen. In de uil wilde ik een rammeltje stoppen, maar uiteindelijk had ik 4 bellen nodig voor een redelijk respectabel geluid. Na het inpakken zag het er zo uit...

I made the owl of 100% cotton and safety eyes. Inside the owl I wanted to put a little bel, but eventually I needed 4 bells before it made a respectable rinkle. After wrapping, it looked like this...

Leuk papier hè? Ik kocht het voor een prikkie bij de Nijhof in Baarn. Echt een leuke winkel als je van interieur en wonen houdt. Maar wel prijzig.

Do you like the paper? I bought it on sale at Nijhof in Baarn. A really nice store if you like interior design. But still quite expensive.

Helaas kon ik deze Pasen ook wat "uitpakken". Weet je nog die leuke roze deken die ik aan het breien was? Halverwege was de lichtroze op. Ik had bijgekocht, maar het was een ander verfbad. Het kleurverschil was vreselijk. Uiteindelijk zat er maar één ding op...uithalen. Ohhh, dat deed pijn aan mn hart, ik had al ruim een meter lang en 1.20 breed. Maar een goede leer voor de volgende keer. Nu heb ik voldoende roze ingeslagen voor een heel weeshuis. En oh ja, met hetzelfde verfbad ;-)

Unfortunately I had to "unwrap" something. Do you remeber the nice pinky blanket I was knitting? During the knitting I got out of the pink. I bought some extra, but really could see the difference of the colours. It looked terrible. There was only one solution left...taking it all out again. Ohhh, this hurted in my heart, the blanket was one metre long already. But I will learn from this and buy more than enough cotton from the same bath of paint in the future.

En toch nog een leuke afsluiter. Pasen is al voorbij, maar omdat ie zo leuk is...mijn paasboom met de hippe kippen...

And to close this blog with a happy end... Easter is yet over, but because I like it a lot...my easter decorations with my chickies...

Kip met pensioen/ Retired chick

Gelukkig komt er steeds meer aandacht voor de natuur en het milieu. Ik was al heel lang vegetarisch, al jaren, om de supervervuilende vleesindustrie niet te ondersteunen. Eén dag geen vlees eten is beter voor het milieu dan één dag niet in je Hummer rijden (rijdt 1 op 4). Een paar jaar geleden ben ik zelfs biologisch gaan eten en ben ik een frequente bezoeker geworden van de Biologische Boer en de Natuurwinkel. Ondanks dat het mij een goed gevoel geeft iets goeds te doen voor de natuur en de wereld (ok, hier stopt mijn stichtelijke preek), word ik pas echt uitzinnig om te zien dat er steeds meer mensen zijn die geven om de natuur en biologisch gaan eten.
Fortunately the attention for environment and nature is growing. I'm a vegetarian for a very long time now, especially to NOT support the meat industry. One day not eating meat is better for the environment than not driving your Hummer for a whole day. A few years ago I began to eat biological food and became a frequent visitor at the Biological Farmer and the Nature shop. Although it gives me a good feeling helping nature and eating healthy food (alright, here I will stop my sermon), it makes me very happy more and more people are caring about the environment and starting to eat biological food.

Nou is het bijna Pasen en dan is de tijd aangebroken voor de eieren: eieren beschilderen, eieren zoeken en vooral...heel veel eieren eten! Veel van die eieren kwam tot voor kort van de legbatterij van kippen die hutje mutje zitten en blootgesteld worden aan veel stress. Helaas werden veel kippen na het afnemen van hun eiproductie simpelweg door de shredder gegooid. Ik weet het...geen leuk verhaal zo vlak voor Pasen, maar wel de realiteit.
It's almost Easter and then the time is there for eggs: painting eggs, searching for eggs and most of all...eating the eggs! A lot of those eggs came from battery hens, stuck in too little cages, totally stressed out. I'm not very happy to tell you this, but when the egg production goes down, those little hens are simply thrown in a shredder. I know this is a tough story so short before Easter, but it is the simple reality. 



Gelukkig trokken meer mensen zich het lot van de hennen zich aan en zo ontstond Little Hen Rescue. Vaak kwamen de legbatterij hennen zo gestresst en afgepeigerd aan dat ze amper nog veren aan hun lijfje hadden en zwaar vermagerd waren, sommige zelfs niet meer levensvatbaar. Daarom bedacht Jo Eglen iets heel slims: ze breide kippen truien zodat ze ondanks hun kale lijfje toch warm zouden blijven. En dat ging prima! Veel vrijwillgers gingen ook aan de slag en dat resulteerde in een vrolijke boel.
More people were concerned about the destiny of these hens and that's why Jo Eglen started Little Hen Rescue. Often the hens were so stressed out and totally exhausted the had just a few feathers left. Jo made up something clever: she knitted hen jumpers so they were able to keep warm during cold weather. And it worked out fine! A lot of volunteers began to knit, with very fashionable results. 































Op dit moment hebben ze kippen truitjes genoeg, maar je kan je wel opgeven voor de reservelijst. Zodra ze een trui nodig hebben, krijg je een email. Stel dat je je eigen kip wil pimpen met de Pasen...op de website staat een patroon.
Right now, they have enough jumpers left, but when you love to knit for the Little Hen Rescue, you will be put on a mailing list. When they need a jumper, you will get mail. And if you want to pimp up your own chickies with Easter...you can find a pattern on the website.

En als jullie straks inkopen gaan doen voor de Pasen, willen jullie dan nog eens denken aan mijn blog en koop alsjeblieft eieren die gelegd zijn door kippen met een beter leven.

Travel proof

Over een paar dagen gaan wij met het vliegtuig naar Bonaire. Helemaal fantastisch natuurlijk om naar een eiland te gaan waar het boven de 30 graden is en een tropisch briesje waait. Maar...om er te komen, moet eerst een behoorlijke vliegreis van 9 uur worden afgelegd. En deze dame heeft een flinke partij vliegangst. Tis niet zozeer de hoogte die me parten speelt, maar meer hoe diep je kan vallen. Maar afijn, ik dus driftig op zoek naar Bezigheden Voor Grote Hoogtes. En wat neemt een handwerkgek dan mee?...
Within a few days we will travel to Bonaire by airplane. I'm offcourse very exited about this island with warm wheather and a tropical breese. But...to get there, we have to be in an airplane for at least 9 hours. And this lady talking, has a tremendous amount of fear of flying. It's not the height I'm afraid of, but more the depth you can fall in. But allright, I was very much searching for things to do for me not to think too much about flying and falling during this flight. And what will bring a knitting-mad-person?...

Nou, als het aan de vliegmaatschappij ligt wordt dat een boekje en een puzzeltje, want handwerkartikelen blijken Levensgevaarlijk. Met een breinaald kan je verwachten behandeld te worden als een Ware Terrorist. En dan een handwerkschaartje...oeh!... Zeuren bij de douane heeft kennelijk geen zin, hoewel ik er nog steeds van overtuigd ben dat handwerksters hier vreselijk in gediscrimineerd worden. Breinaalden worden meedogenloos uit breiwerk getrokken en ingenomen. Die leuke trui waar je aan bezig was, zie je tijdens je vlucht veranderen in een treurig hoopje garen-gatenkaas, terwijl je je dood zit te vervelen. Dus ik op zoek naar Vliegtuig-Verantwoorde-Handwerk-Artikelen.
Well, according to the airline you will bring a book and a few puzzles, because knitting articles are Very Dangerous Attributes. With a knitting needle you can expected to be treated like a True Terrorist. And a little scissors....oh boy!.... Complaining has no sense at all, they simply laugh at you, although I really think knitters are Truely Discriminated here. Knitting needles are simply pulled out of your hard work and thrown away, regardless their cost whatsoever. The nice jumper you were knitting before, will be a pathetic mess when you're halfway your journey while you're bored to death. This can't be happening to me, so I was looking for Airplane-Responsible-Knitting-Stuff.

En ja, ze bestaan! Volgens een website mag je bamboe haaknaalden gewoon meenemen en kleine schaartjes zijn streng verboden, maar een draadsnijdertje mag wel. Dus sinds vanmiddag ben ik in het trotse bezit van een bamboe haaknaald en een DMC draadsnijder!
But yess, this airplane save stuff exists! According to a website, you're allowed to bring bamboo crochet needles to take with you and a yarn cutter as an alternative for scissors. So since this afternoon I'm in the possesion of my Airplane-Proof-Knitting-Set!

Maar wat heb je aan een haaknaald als je geen garen hebt? Dus ik ben maar even groots gaan inpakken...
But why only take a crochet needle and no yarn? So I made it a big bag of knitting stuff...

Wat ik allemaal ga maken, ga ik natuurlijk nog niet verklappen, maar ik heb een berg patronen mee, speldjes, oogjes, sleutelhangers, lint, kant en superveel katoen en acryl. Dus dat blijft nog even spannend. Wel is de 2e cirkel van mn kussen af, tadaaaa.
What I will produce during my holiday will be a secret, but I took pages of patterns, pins, eyes, ribbons, laces and loads of cotton and acrylic. The only thing I want to show you yet, is the second circle of my pillow, taaadaaaaaahhhhh.

Crochet and Jar-art / Haken en Potjes-kunst

Vanmorgen was ik aan het surfen op het internet voor een leuk nieuw project om aan te beginnen. Ik ben nog steeds bezig met de babydeken, maar tijdelijk wordt het roze katoen dat ik ervoor gebruik niet geleverd. Balen, maar niks aan te doen. Dus terwijl ik wacht op een verse aanvoer van roze bolletjes, zal ik mezelf dus even moeten bezighouden met een nieuw tussendoor projectje.

This morning I was surfing on the internet to search for a nice new project to begin with. I'm still working on my big baby blanket, but temporarily I have no more pink cotton, waiting to be delivered so I can go on. A pity, but can;t do anything about it. So while waiting for a new fresh box of soft pinky cotton balls, I will have to keep myself busy with an inbetweeny project.




Mijn babydeken tot dusver, stel je het eens voor in een zachtroze babykamertje in een wit ledikantje...zo lief...
My baby blanket until now, imagine what it looks like in a soft pink and white baby room in a white little bed....so sweet...

  Nu heb ik mijn vrolijke kleurtjes katoen maar weer eens uit de kast gepakt en ben ik gestart met een meditatiekussentje. Sinds ik yoga doe, heb ik wel enigszins eelt op mn kont gekregen, maar een kussentje voor onder de billetjes is nooit weg.

I took my happy coloured cotton balls out of my closet and started a little cushion for meditation. Since I practice yoga, I've had some experience sitting on a hard floor, but I'll never reject a soft cushion for a softer seat.

Ik heb lekkere vrolijke kleurtjes gekozen, daar word je al blij van als je ernaar kijkt. Op de blog van Attic24 staat een patroon voor een perfect plat rondje, dat ik gebruik. Ik maak er twee en daartussen haak ik nog een paar toeren stokjes zonder meerderingen, zodat het kussen volume krijgt (en ik geen harde kont hihi).
Ik ben begonnen met het eerste rondje en dat ziet er tot nu toe zo uit:

I chose the most delicious colours, making me deliriously happy. On the blog of Attic24 is a tutorial for a perfect flat circle, which I thankfully use. I make two circles and inbetween a few round with no increases or decreases, so the cushion will get volume (and I won't get a hard ass LOL).
I began with the first circle and it looks like this:

During my search on the internet, I found a nice site with a very nice idea: jar-art. Maroccan lanterns made from simple empty jars, decorated with paint. Really nice and don't cost a lot. Wie o wie... / Who...

heeft een goeie tip voor mij wat betreft puntbeschermers? Ik ben bezig met een babydeken van 120 x 150 cm en ik ben als de dood dat bij het meenemen of wegleggen van mn breiwerk er steken vallen of -oh horror, nog erger- een deel uitrafelt. IEH!!!

has a really good tip about point protectors for knitting needles? I'm knitting a baby blanket of 120 x 150 cm and I'm really scared all my knitting work will be ruined, losing stitches or -worse- making holes while putting it in my bag. IEH!!! My worst nightmare!

Ik heb deze stoppers gezien, maar ik weet eigenlijk niet of het echt goeie zijn. Nu gebruik ik een elastiekje, dat werkt redelijk, maar is wel een heel gedoe om het zo vaak om de naalden heen te slingeren dat het er niet meer afglijdt. Wat gebruiken jullie?
I saw these point protectors, but I don't know they're really good ones. Right now, I use a peace of elastic. That works out fine, but it's quite a job to circle it around the needles so it would stay on. What do you use to protect your knitting work from sliding down?

In rounds / in het rond

Mijn opdracht is af! Ik heb een mutsje gemaakt voor een 6 maanden oude baby. Kijk...

My task is done! I've made a hat for a baby of 6 months. Watch....

Dit keer heb ik een grotere bloem op de muts gemaakt. Ik hoop dat ze er blij mee zijn.
This time I made a bigger flower on the hat. I hope she will be happy with it.

En nu weer verder met een nieuw project. Ik heb gisteren mijn nieuwe Addi Lace rondbreinaalden set van stal gehaald. Ze blinken nog helemaal in het etui.
And now I have time for a new project. I took my new set of circulair needles (Addi Lace). They're still shiny blinking new.

Ik heb een mooie blauwe acryl gepakt om een beetje uit te proberen. Het wordt een colsjaal. Zo heerlijk, alleen maar rechtbreien, geen averecht. Nog een paar dagen me druk maken en ik kan hem showen.

I used some beautiful blue acryl to try out how it works. It will be a cowl. So wonderfull, only knitting, no purling. A few more knitting days and I will show the result.

Even een kort berichtje vandaag. Ik heb een griepje te pakken en lig compleet knock out in mn bed. Met uiteraard een breiwerkje naast me. Ik maak een babymutsje op bestelling dit keer. Hij wordt zachtroze en er komt nog versiering op. Foto's durf ik nu nog niet te publiceren, ik zie er niet uit. Misschien wel leuk om naar te kijken zijn beroemde breisters, zoals op de set van Sex and the City.

Dus laat je nooit meer vertellen dat breien niet hip is!!!


A short message from me today. I've caught the flu and I'm knocked out in my bed. With offcourse a bundle of needlework beside me. I'm making a babyhat on demand. It will be soft pink and the're will be nice decorations. I don't dare to take pictures of myself knitting in bed, I simply look terrible. Maybe nicer to watch some famous knitters, like on the set of Sex and the City.

So don't you ever think knitting is not hip!!!

Whishlist waiting

Natuurlijk moet er altijd iets te wensen over blijven in je leven. Iets om naar uit te kijken. Iets om je op te kunnen verheugen. Ik ben absoluut geen hebberig persoon en eerlijk gezegd ben ik heel gelukkig met de dingen die ik heb. Maar vanmorgen... Sinds vanmorgen heb ik een heel pakket aan "whish-list"... Ik kreeg namelijk de nieuwe H&M folder in de bus en ohhhh....wat ik daarin zag....

Ofcourse there has always have to be something to whish for in your life. Something to look forward to. Something to enjoy for the future to come. I'm absolutely not a greedy person and honestly very happy with the things I've got. But this morning.... Since this morning I have a whole lot of whishes on my whish-list... Because this morning I got the new brochure of H&M and ohhhh....what I saw in there....

In mijn huis past meer een industriële keukenlook, gezien ik veel grijstinten en stoere teakmeubels heb. Maar ook daar heeft H&M wat op gevonden...

And what do you think of this kitchen a la Cath Kidston? Isn't this beautiful? And it's really not that expensive! In my house fits a more industrial look, because I have a lot of greyish tones and firm teak furniture in my house. But there's more for H&M to reveil...

Maar eigenlijk was ik daar helemaal niet naar op zoek. Afgelopen maand heb ik me beziggehouden met het haken van uilen. Veel uilen in verschillende kleuren. Van de kleintjes wil ik tassenhangers/ sleutelhangers gaan maken, maar nu ze zo in een rijtje op de kast staan, vind ik het veel te gezellig zo, de hele familie uil.

But after all these beautiful things to distract me, it was not where I was looking for. Last month I kept myself busy crocheting owls. A lot of owls in different colours. I was planning to make rings and laces on them to make a dangle to put your keys on, or an owl to dangle on your bag. But when they're on my cupboard, they look so familylike happy owls, I don't want to put them away.

Na al dat gehaak, was ik op zoek naar een andere klus, een breiklus. Afgelopen week heb ik toch weer een poging gewaagd om babymutsjes te breien en zowaar, het is gelukt! Kijk!

After all this crocheting, I was looking for a different thing to do, a knitting thing. Last week I just did another try to knit a pair of baby hats and surprise, I did it! Look!

De steken zijn helemaal perfect! De minderingen goed gelukt. Ik ben stiekem ontzettend trots op mezelf. Dat breien krijg ik uiteindelijk toch onder de knie. En ik vind het ook hartstikke leuk. Al heb ik nog steeds moeite met het hanteren van die lange breinaalden. Waarom maken ze die dingen zo lang? Wat ik dus eigenlijk aan het doen was, was zoeken van korte breinaalden op internet en toen vond ik dit...

The stitches are all perfect! The shape did work out fine. I'm secretly so terribly proud of myself. Eventually I will manage to knit after all. And I really like it, although I still have some problems with handeling those big long knitting needles. Why do they make them so long? What I was actually looking for this morning where short knitting needles on the internet. And then I found these...

Het is een rondbrei set van Addi met extra puntige maar ook erg korte naalden, het heet Addi Lace. Precies wat ik zoek! Ik wil ze! Oke, dan maar geen dekbedovertrek, lange jurk, keukengerei of superschort, ik brei het wel met deze fantastische naalden.

Helaas zijn ze in de meeste winkels op dit moment in bestelling, dus ik moet nog heel even geduld hebben tot ik echt aan de slag kan met mijn nieuwe set. Ik kan bijna niet wachten!!!

Tot die tijd maak ik dan maar een zusje voor Nijntje, is die niet meer zo alleen...

I's a circular needle set from Addi with pointy but very short needles, called Addi Lace. Exactly what I was looking for! I want them! I don't want a bedcover, a long dress, kitchen garment or a super apron, I will knit them with these great great needles.

Unfortunately they are not in store at the moment. I ordered them, so they will arrive eventually, I just need some more patience to start knitting with these great needles. I hardly can't wait!!!

Till then, I will make a little sister for Miffy, so she won't be so lonesome anymore....
