Heart Xmas

Vandaag heb ik ze eindelijk afgemaakt, mijn kerstharten. Een aantal weken geleden had ik een paar leuke stofjes op de kop getikt en wat kant bij de Xenos om daar iets moois van te maken voor de kerstboom. En tadaa...hier een kleine kerst preview

Today I finally finished them, my Xmas hearts. A few weeks ago I bought a few nice fabrics and some lace to make something special for the Xmas tree. Look beneath for a little Xmas preview.....

Aan de ene kant zijn ze rood wit geruit met een kanten randje. En aan de andere kant....

On this side they're red and white with a piece of lace. But on the other side.....

Linnen! Voor meerdere kerstsferen te gebruiken dus!
Ik maakte er ook nog van linnen kerststerren bij...

Linen! So you can use them for also another Xmas spirit!
I also made a few linen Xmas stars....

Ze waren vrij makkelijk te maken. The Royal Sisters hebben een heel leuk patroon op hun blog staan voor granny stars. Zie de link hier rechts.
De harten waren wat minder eenvoudig. Ik heb eerst harten geknipt uit stof met behulp van een mal. Daarna eerst de kantjes eraan genaaid. Daarna de harten op elkaar genaaid met de goede kant binnen. Daarna omgedraaid, gevuld en de linten en strikken eraan gezet met de hand.

They were quite easy to make. The Royal Sisters wrote a nice tutorial, which you can find on their blog. They name them granny stars. Look at the right for the link.
The hearts were simple. First I cut the hearts with a little help from a model and sewed the pieces of lace on with my sewing machine. Then I sewed the hearts together with the good side in. When you're almost round, turn the hearts inside out, fill them and sew the ribbons on the heart by hand.

Sorry voor de slechte belichting. Waarom bedenk ik altijd 's avonds dat ik wat op mijn blog wil zetten? De harten zijn vast ook fantastisch als ze gevuld zijn met lavendel of andere kruiden als geurzakje. Hier gebruikte ik fiberfill. Hopelijk kunnen jullie ze snel bewonderen in mijn kerstboom. I'm sorry for the bad lightning. Why do I always plan my fotography for my blog at night? The hearts will be great when you fill them with lavender or other spices to make a scented bag. Here I used fiberfill. Hopefully you will sees them soon hanging proudly in my Xmas tree. You will get more pictures soon...

Hondenweer / Bad wheather

Brrrr, wat is het toch vies, nat weer vanmorgen. De regen komt met bakken uit de lucht. Echt Hollands herfstweer! Gelukkig zit ik lekker binnen, droog en warm, met mijn ochtendbakkie koffie met één schepje suiker en een dikke stroofwafel. En mijn haakwerkje binnen handbereik...
Yak, the wheather is very wet this morning. It's raining cats and dogs. Real Dutch autumn wheather! I'm very happy I'm inside, dry and warm, with my morning coffee with one teaspoon of sugar and a big stroopwafel. That's a Dutch cookie, a round waffle with syrup in it. Very delicious. When you're in Holland sometime, you simply have to try it once.
And ofcourse I also have my crochet within my reach...

Mijn tuin is helemaal doorweekt en de hangmat waarin ik dit weekend zo heerlijk in het zonnetje lag, is nu een eenzame standaard. En kijk naar mijn tuinmeubels...het water druipt eraf!

My little garden is totally soaked and the hammock I dangled in so nicely this weekend, is now a lonely frame. And look at my garden furniture...all wet!

Het wordt herfst en het is tijd voor regenjassen, laarzen en... een comfortabele sjaal. Zoals dit project waaraan ik werk, een ajourmodel in offwhite, roze, grijsblauw en bruin in Egyptisch katoen. Comfortabel en nog niet te warm, een echte herfstsjaal.

It's autumn and time for rain coats, boots and... a comfortabel scarf. Like this project I'm working on, an ajourmodel in offwhite, pink, grey blue and braun in egyptian cotton. Comfortabel and not yet too warm, a real autumn scarf.

Maar er zijn nog dingen die me aan de zomer herinneren... Voor de regendagen hebben we alle lavendel uit de voortuin (en dat is een heleboel) gesnoeid en in de schuur te drogen gelegd.
But I have something in my room which reminds me of summer... Before the rain started, we have cut all the lavender from our garden at the front (and that's a lot of lavender), and we've dried it in our shed.

Het is lavendula augustfolia, de sterkst geurende soort die vooral in Zuid Frankrijk wordt gebruikt voor parfums en geurolie. En voor geurzakjes! Dat wil ik er nu dus van gaan maken. Ik heb op vakantie de meest prachtige zakjes gezien. Geborduurd (wat ik niet kan) en schitterend gestikt. Maar er moet toch ook een manier zijn om een leuk zakje te haken? Dat wordt mijn projectje vanmiddag!
It's lavendula augustfolia, the lavender with the strongest scent. This kind of lavender is known especially from the french parfums and oils. And from scented bags! I want to make my own. On my holiday I saw some very beautifull bags. Embroidered (but I can't) and beautifully stitched. But I'm looking for a way to crochet my bags! That will be my project for this afternoon!

Ik heb bij Jolandelijk schitterend oud kant gekocht, wie weet kan ik het er mooi voor gebruiken...

Naaimachien

De wondere dingen zijn de wereld nog niet uit. Al een paar weken heb ik ideeën om mijn lavendelplanten in de voortuin te snoeien. De knoppen wil ik dan drogen om er geurzakjes van te maken met zacht linnen. Daarvoor is een naaimachine een handig attribuut. Alleen...ik heb geen naaimachine....
In een ver verleden leende ik hem van mijn moeder. Maar dat is niet altijd even handig natuurlijk, slepen met zo'n zwaar ding.
There are still magical things in this world. Since a few weeks I have plans to dry lavender to put it in little bags of soft linen fabric. And I will need a sewing machine for that. Only...I don't have a sewing machine. I always used my mothers, but offcourse that's not always very practical, moving a heavy machine....

Al een paar weken verdiep ik me in de wereld van de naaimachien. Dat is een ingewikkelde wereld. Allerlei knopjes en functies, waar ik geen snars van begrijp. Wat moet ik dan kiezen?
A few weeks I'm planning to buy a sewing machine and read some pages to make a fine decision which one I should choose. But I don't understand all of it. All those buttons and functions.... Which one should I take?

Mijn schoonzusje opeens belt of ik interesse heb in de oude naaimachien van opa. Natuurlijk! En nu staat hij hier...
My sister in law calls if I want grandpa's old sewing machine. Offcourse I will! And now, he's here!

Het is een oud beestje, maar hij doet het nog prima. Ik ben meteen met mijn eerste naaiproject begonnen voor de zomer. Van deze jurk, die niet mooi past, maak ik een flapperend zomerrokje, ideaal voor warm weer.

It's old, but it still functions. I immediately started my first sewing project for a nice summer skirt, nice for warm wheather. I'm making it from an old dress, which didn't fit well. 

De jurk was superlang, dus wie weet stof genoeg voor meer...
The dress was very long, so probably fabric for more than just one skirt....

En tot slot van geluk kwam mijn Franse hangoor konijn Lotje naar me toe gerend tijdens het oprekken voor yoga...
And at the end of all my happiness and joy, my rabbit Lotje came running to me during stretching for yoga...

Ze springt tussen mijn benen en gaat liggen voor een tukkie, aandacht en een knuffel.
She jumped between my legs and layed down for a nap, some attention and a cuddle.

Lief he? Mijn dag is compleet goed.
So sweet! My day is faboulous!
