It has been a few weeks since my boyfriend proposed and now our wedding is almost ready with arrangements. We will get married in Naarden, in the afternoon a long intimite reception and in the evening a private diner with our dearest friends and relatives at the home of an Italian cook. We keep it small, intimite and cosy. Like we are. I'm looking forward to it...

BUT...

What will I wear?

I begin to think it's more usual to celebrate a wedding on a Hollywood kind of way, in a castle with loads of bling bling and loads of guests. And offcourse with the usual Hollywood dress. Unfortunately, that's not my style at all. I wear dresses sometimes, but with a more casual look and boots under it.
In january my mum and I will go to a weddingdress show to look for a dress. And otherwise I will have to make one myself, Jillian did. She made it from round crocheted doilies. I saw it before on the blog of Handmaid Liset, but I never would have known I would get inspired so much...

Lekkere koffie / Good coffee

There is nothing more delicious than a good cup of hot coffee at breakfast. But what is exactly good coffee? From "firmly roasted" till "soft round taste", they make up the most beautiful terms. I almost thought my favourite taste of coffee wouldn't exist, BUT...I found it, for 10 euro at the HEMA....

And you make this coffee with this...

With this fantastic little pot you make most delicious, very hot, fresh, strong espresso, which also tastes like espresso and not like coffee filters with an age less than 500 years old. With hot foamy milk you make a most delicious cappuccino (although I had an-exploding-in-the-microwave-warm-milk-accident). Just for 10 euro at the HEMA in sale.

I'll have another one!

Oh kunstkerstboom / Oh fake Xmas tree

Like I promised, I will show you the result of my Xmas tree. I have a fake one. Maybe you remember my big rabbit? I don't want to risk she gets ill by eating needles or with sudden enthousiasm jumping in the middle of the tree...

In the years before, I very much liked white ornaments, shiny silver balls and icy looks, but over time it more and more became a naturel Xmas look....

And this is it, our Xmas tree. Because he is fake, I bought a nice footage to hide the standard. It fits wonderfull well with the cloches in the tree. I made all by myself except the cloches and the metal hearts (Ikea).

Natuurlijk met de linnen gehaakte sterren.

Offcourse with the crocheted stars.

They fit well with the red and white little hearts I made.

Last year I made these stars and hearts. They are 3d and I made them with mixed wool, so it gets a little bit fluffy too.

And now we only have to pray for a white Xmas. It's pouring with rain the whole morning now. A few white snowflakes are more than welcome!

Heart Xmas

Today I finally finished them, my Xmas hearts. A few weeks ago I bought a few nice fabrics and some lace to make something special for the Xmas tree. Look beneath for a little Xmas preview.....

On this side they're red and white with a piece of lace. But on the other side.....

Linnen!

Linen! So you can use them for also another Xmas spirit!
I also made a few linen Xmas stars....

They were quite easy to make. The Royal Sisters wrote a nice tutorial, which you can find on their blog. They name them granny stars. Look at the right for the link.
The hearts were simple. First I cut the hearts with a little help from a model and sewed the pieces of lace on with my sewing machine. Then I sewed the hearts together with the good side in. When you're almost round, turn the hearts inside out, fill them and sew the ribbons on the heart by hand.

Foto's volgen!

I'm sorry for the bad lightning. Why do I always plan my fotography for my blog at night? The hearts will be great when you fill them with lavender or other spices to make a scented bag. Here I used fiberfill. Hopefully you will sees them soon hanging proudly in my Xmas tree. You will get more pictures soon...

English hat pattern

Like I promised, the pattern of the hat in English:

Pattern hat

needle 5,5 mm and 5 mm
gauge 16 sc = 10 cm (with needle 5,5)
3 balls of 50 gram each

First you make the top of the hat with needle 5,5. Make 92 ch. Turn around and crochet 91 sc (the last ch is a turn-chain). Make 25 rows of 91 sc.

26 - 1 ch, 1 sc in the first sc, after this 45 x sc2tog
27 - 1 ch, 1 sc in each sc (46 stitches)
28 - 1 ch, 23 x sc2tog
29 - 1 ch, 1 sc in each sc (23 stitches)
30 - 1 ch, 1 sc in the first sc, 11 x sc2tog
31 - 1 ch, 1 sc in each sc (12 stitches)

Leave a long peace of thread to sew the hat together and fasten off.

Now you will make the cuff with needle 5. Crochet 9 ch. Turn around and make 7 hdc in the last 7 ch (2 ch are for turning).Turn around, make 2 ch and make 7 hdc only in the backloops. Repeat this untill you have aproximately 56 rows. (This size is for a 56 cm head).
Pin the cuff at the bottom of the hat. Stretch it so you don't leave a piece. Hook with sl st the cuff to the hat. Be sure these stitches are at the wrong side of the hat (unless you like this border).

Sew the hat together with small tight stitches and make a big lose ponpon to sew on the top. I used pieces of thread of 12 cm.

Put your hat on and now you're ready for winter!!!

English hat

Wow, just like that I almost have 50 followers!!! How nice!!! I never thought when I started this blog I would have this much! Welcome to all of you and I hope you will enjoy the things I write and make. On request I will post here the pattern of the hat in English. I often make things of English patterns, so I don't expect very big pattern issues.

Most people in blogland make giveaways. I personally never did this before, but may be it's time. First I have to make some plans. After all, it's almost Xmas. See you soon!!!

Leeuwen haken/ Crocheting lions

Flowers and Berlin

Dear everyone, it has been over a week since I posted, but....this has a reason which I will tell you later....

First of all it was Sinterklaas (or today it's Sinterklaas, but we celebrated yesterday). I had to buy a gift and make a present for my sister in law. She asked for things to pimp up her bike, which is offcourse a piece of cake for me. Our budget was 25 euro. I bought a rack for her bike, a very hilarical Dora bike bell (it was a pink one!!!) and a few necessary things like tie wraps and stuff. To crochet pimp the bike I also made some flowers she can sew on.

Don´t you think they´re nice? She was very happy with it. The patterns came from a Japanese book. To use the buttons for flower hearts was my own idea. The big pink flower is so big you can use them as a corsage on your wrist when you sew the green leaves together....

For the poem I made a game. I made 8 envelopes with in it a little poem and a assignment (behave like pink rabbit slippers, sing a Sinterklaas song, solve a riddle etc.) It was hilarious!

Butttt....back to the reason I didn´t post yet.... I was a weekend in Berlin with my love. A lot of Xmas markets and although it was -9 degrees, we went through the city which was very nice (with warm wintergloves...). We had dinner at our favourite sushi restaurant Kuchi at the KantstraBe. And.... I was proposed!!! And I said yes! We are getting married!!! Offcourse we first told our family. Reading your kids will get married on a blog is kind of weird.

Offcourse a picture of the ring...a little big too big, because I never wear rings no idea which size I have, but he shines like a star!

The little sticker is of the Deutsches Historisches Museum...

And finally a golden tip for the crocheting, knitting, sewing and creative girls out there...when you´re in Berlin, you definitely have to go to the creative part of the KaDeWe (Kaufhaus Des Westens). They have a lot of stock in a very very very big store. I bought some crochet books this time. They also have some other stores in Germany.
