Hi there...

Het was even stil op mijn blog. Dat had natuurlijk een goede reden. 7 september is ons dochtertje Daantje (Danielle Maria) geboren! We hebben wekenlang op een grote roze wolk gezeten. Voeden, knuffelen, slapen, heel veel luiers en urenlang kijken naar haar prachtige koppie. Nu beginnen we langzaam in een ritme te komen en is het weer langzaamaan tijd voor wat creatieve zaken.
It was silent for a while. That was ofcourse for a good reason. On the 7th of september our daughter has been born. Het name is Daantje (Danielle Maria). We are in heaven! Feeding, cuddling, sleeping, a lot of diapers and watching my little girl for hours and hours. Now we slowly begin to gain a kind of routine and it's time for some creative things.

Mandjes patroon / basket pattern

Afgelopen 2 dagen heb ik de haaknaald weer opgepakt. Ik had nog 3 katoenen bollen lichtbruin van Double Eight 8/8 en een paar kleinere bolletjes wit en roze. Daar ben ik eens creatief mee aan de slag gegaan. Met haaknaald nummer 4 haakte ik een mandje voor op de commode.

Last two days I got my hooky business back on track. I had left 3 cotton balls of light brown from Double Eight 8/8 and a few little balls white and pink. I went creative with hooky needle 4 and crocheted a little basket for my baby.

Met daarboven een mooie sierrand van roze en wit, met daarin uitsparingen om eventueel nog een lintje doorheen te weven.

I made an edgy border with white and pink and little holes in them, so you can put a ribbon through.



Het is vrij eenvoudig te maken. Je doet het zo:

Benodigdheden:

3 bollen lichtbruin

1 bol wit

1 bol roze

haaknaald 4

marker

naald om mee af te hechten

kleine schaar

• Begin met een magic loop en haak daarin 6 vasten. Werk in doorlopende rondes. Een marker is handig om aan te geven waar je nieuwe ronde begint.
• 2 v in elke v = 12 v
• 1 v in de 1e v van de vorige ronde, 2 v in de volgende v, herhaal = 18 v
• 1 v in de eerste 2 v, 2 v in de volgende v, herhaal = 24 v
• 1 v in de eerste 3 v, 2 v in de volgende v, herhaal = 30 v
• ...blijf het opbouwen volhouden tot je een platte cirkel krijgt van vasten...
• 1 v in de eerste 18 v, 2 v in de volgende v, herhaal = 120 v
• Nu heb je de bodem klaar en ga je beginnen aan de zijkanten van je mand. Maak ronden in vasten (elke toer heeft dus 120 vasten) tot je de mand hoog genoeg vindt.
• Voor de sierrand: wissel van kleur (in dit geval roze) en haak 2 toeren met vasten in roze
• Wissel van kleur (hier wit) en haak 2 toeren vasten.
• Bij de volgende toer, hou de volgende steken aan [1 v, 2 lossen] en herhaal dit tot je rond bent.
• Daarna [1 v in de vaste van de vorige toer, 2 vasten in de lus die je hebt gemaakt door lossen te haken] en herhaal dit tot je rond bent.
• Laatste toer: [1 v in de eerste v, 1 v in de 2e v, 2 lossen, 1 hv in de 3e v], herhaal tot einde en hecht af

 Je kan nu ook een omslag maken, zodat je mooie randje extra goed uitkomt...tadaaaaaa!!!

• Begin with a magic loop and 6 sc in them. Keep crocheting in continuous rounds. A stitch marker would be nice to remember where your first stitch of the round.
• 2 sc in every sc = 12 sc
• 1 sc in the first sc of the previous round, 2 sc in the next sc, repeat = 18 sc
• 1 sc in the first 2 sc, 2 sc in the next, repeat = 24 sc
• 1 sc in the first 3 sc, 2 sc in the next, repeat = 30 sc
• ...keep building up this circle until it grows bigger (and keeps flat)...
• 1 sc in the first 18 sc, 2 sc in the next = 120 sc
• Now you have finished the bottom of the basket and you start with the side up. Make continuous rounds in sc, in every sc, 1 sc, until you reach the height of your dreams.
• For the edging, change colour to pink and make 2 rounds in sc.
• After that, change colour to white and make 2 rounds in sc.
• In the next round repeat [1 sc, 2 ch] til you're round
• Next round you fill in the blanks with [1 sc in the sc from the previous round, 2 sc in the space of the ch stitches], repeat this til you're done
• Last round: [1 sc in the first sc, 1 sc in the second sc, 2 ch, 1 slst in the third sc], repeat til you're done (this is a kind of picot stitch) and weave in the thread with the needle.

Now you're done with your basket! You can fold the edge downwards if you like the look....taddaaaaahhhhh!!!



Inmiddels staat het mandje al te pronken op de commode tussen alle andere babyspulletjes, klaar voor gebruik. Nog maar een paar weekjes wachten...

Vogeltjes vouwen / Folding birds

Eens wat anders dan haken, breien of naaien: iets wat ik al heeeeeeel lang niet meer gedaan had: origami! In een oude Libelle van mijn moeder vond ik een idee van een mobile met gevouwen kraanvogels. Natuurlijk prachtig voor onze kleine om uren braaf (zonder huilen) naar te kijken (ja, ik weet dat ik hier niet helemaal realistisch ben ;-)) Dus vroeg ik voor mijn verjaardag een pak origami papier en ging ik aan de slag...
Something different than crochet, knitting or sewing; something I didn't do for a long time: origami! In an old magazine of my mothers I found this idea of a mobile of folded birds. Ofcourse a beautiful thing to see for our little one to look at for hours and hours without crying (yeah, I know this is a little bit unrealistic ;-)) So I asked origami paper for my birthday and got busy...

Met de aanwijzingen uit het tijdschrift was het vrij makkelijk te doen. Ik weet niet zeker of ik auteursrechten schend met het publiceren van een fotokopie van de werkwijze, maar gelukkig heb je op internet zat filmpjes en instructies, zoals hier en hier.

Long time no see...patchwork baby blankets

Het is inmiddels alweer een flinke tijd geleden dat ik voor het laatst heb geblogd. Zwanger zijn gaat je toch niet in je koude kleren zitten. Waar ik de eerste maanden vooral erg misselijk was, sloeg daarna de moeheid toe. Fulltime werken, èn creatief bezig zijn in de avonduren was gewoon teveel. Inmiddels ben ik ruim 7 maanden zwanger, heb ik al een flink ronde buik en kom ik nu heel dicht aan mijn verlof. En mijn energie komt een beetje terug. En mijn creativiteit. Ik zal jullie laten zien wat ik de afgelopen weken heb gemaakt...
It's a while ago I blogged for the last time. Sometimes it's hard to be pregnant, feeling sick and tired and not creative at all. Right now I'm 7 months pregnant, much better with quite a big belly and feeling more creative than before. I will show you what I have made for my baby...

Twee baby dekens / two baby blankets

Het was eigenlijk niet heel erg veel werk. Het was eigenlijk best makkelijk om te doen voor een patchwork-groentje! Eerst heb ik van diverse katoenen stofjes (Tilda, de Boerenbonthal Amsterdam) vierkanten geknipt van 16x16 cm.
It was quite a relief how much work it was, it wasn't hard at all for this patchwork-fresh(wo)man! First I searched for nice cotton fabrics (Tilda, the Boerenbonthal in Amsterdam). Then I cut squares of 16x16 cm.

Die heb ik in een patroon gelegd, zodat de kleurtjes leuk uitkwamen.
I made a pattern first, so the colours looked nice with each other.

Daarna banen gestikt op de naaimachine en de banen als een laken aan elkaar gezet, met telkens een naad van 0,5 cm.
I sewed them all together on my sewing machine, with a very small stich.

Sew baby sew!

Als batting (vulling) koos ik ook 100% katoen, wat licht is voor een baby om onder te liggen en voor voering ook weer 100% katoenen stoffen.
For batting I chose 100% cotton, which is more air releasing for a baby and lighter to be under. And for the backside I also chose 100% cotton fabrics.

Ik ben best trots op mijn eigen fabricaten. Ik vond het zo leuk om te maken, dat ik nu ook gordijnen in patchworkstijl maak en zelfs overweeg ze te gaan verkopen in mijn webshop. Maar dat zal na mijn bevalling zijn... Wat vinden jullie ervan?
I'm proud of my own sewings. I liked it a lot making them, so I now also make patchwork curtains for my little daughter-to-be. And I even think about selling them in my webshop. But that will be after giving birth... What do you think? Like them?

Charmante brocante

In mijn zoektocht naar originele babymeubels heb ik een fantastische ontdekking gedaan. Een verzameling van brocanteurs onder één droog dak! Een brocante markt maar dan weerbestendig. Een markt gevoel voor markt prijsjes.

In my search for original baby furniture I made a fantastic discovery! A kind of brocante and antiquities market, but indoors! No rain on this market, but the same cheep prices. You can find the market in Soest in The Netherlands. Look what a beautifull things they sell!

Je begrijpt...ik word hier vaste klant! Voor de babykamer kocht ik hier een prachtige console voor boven de commode; een in kalkverf geschilderd exemplaar voor het luttele bedrag van 25 euro. Maar ik heb er plannen mee... Ik wil hem schilderen in een kleur lak en de binnenkant van de vakjes behangen met stukjes stof. Maar nog even geduld... Over 2 weken hoor ik of we een zoon of een dochter krijgen en daarvan hangt de kleurkeuze af...
May be you understand...I will be a regular costumor! For the babyroom I bought a beautifull console  in white paint for the little price of 25 euro. But I've got some plans....I want to paint it a different colour and put a piece of fabric in the cabinet. But have a little patience... In two weeks I will hear if I'm pregnant with a girl or a boy, so a little more time to pick a colour....

Aanhechten zonder knoop/ Joining yarn without a knot

Breien is soms een leuke bezigheid. In mijn geval betekent dat niet te moeilijk en liefst recht toe recht aan. Voor mijn kleine spruit heb ik me gewaagd aan de start van een Nieuw Baby Project, namelijk een wiegdeken. In een simpele rechte steek. Van katoen en in een onregelmatig streeppatroon met groen en wit en wat accentkleurtjes blauw, oranje en aqua. Even was ik vergeten dat aanhechten mijn hobby niet was... Tot ik deze methode op You Tube tegen kwam. Midden in je toer onzichtbaar aanhechten. Ook mogelijk met een draad van 100% katoen. Wat een genot is dat! Nu kan ik gewoon doorbreien, met een enorme bol katoen. Ja, zo is breien nog wel leuk...

Knitting sometimes is a nice way keeping you busy. In my case it means the pattern needs to be simple and straight on. For my little one I began a New Baby Project, a baby blanket. In a simple garter stitch. Of cotton and in a stripy pattern in green and white with accents of blue, orange and aqua. For a moment I forgot that joining threads just was not my greatest joy in life... Untill I saw this method on You Tube. Joining threads in the middle of your work without seeing it. Also possible with 100% cotton. What a joy! Now I just can go on and on with a giant cotton ball. Yes, knitting IS fun like this...

Breien en haken/ Knitting and crochet in Nieuwegein

Bij het surfen op internet vond ik een nieuw voor mij nog onbekend brei- en haakevenement: de breidag. Het duurt twee dagen, namelijk op vrijdag 13 en zaterdag 14 april en het is voor breiers en hakers die wol en aanverwante artikelen willen aanschaffen, leuke nieuwe patronen willen scoren of workshops willen volgen. Er komt een beroemde brei designer uit Schotland Ysolda, Annemarie Arts (bekend van oa. de boekjes "gelukspoppetjes haken" en "babyspeelgoed haken") is er op zaterdag om demonstraties te geven, er is een patronendokter die je kan helpen als je bent vastgelopen bij het breien of haken en er is een ruilbeurs voor je oude bollen wol of de left-overs.

While surfing on the internet I found a new event for knitters and crocheters: the knitting day. It lasts 2 days, on friday the 13th and saturday the 14th of april. The event is suitable for knitters and crocheters who want to buy wool or related articles, nice new patterns or who want to do workshops. On the event there are also famous people: a knitting designer from Scotland Ysolda, Annemarie Arts will give a demonstration on saturday (she is known from different dutch pattern books) and there will also be a pattern doctor to help you solve your pattern problems. There is also a yarn trading market for the wools you don't use anymore.

Nieuwe patronen! / New patterns!

Lieve allemaal, wat is het lang geleden dat ik een stukje voor mijn blog schreef. Dat had natuurlijk alles met de drukte rondom mijn babyslofjes te maken. Wat heb ik veel verkocht! Er was niet meer tegenop te haken. Maar ik was ook druk met wat anders...
Dearest everyone, what a long time since I have been here. That was offcourse because of the business with hooking the booties for the magazine. I sold a lot! After a while I couldn't keep up with the orders anymore. But I was also busy with something else...

Want afgelopen maand ben ik ENORM beroerd geweest. De wcpot vaker gezien dan mijn eigen man. Dagen stil op bed gelegen om maar rustig te blijven en me niet zieker te voelen. Medicijnen tegen het uitdrogen gekregen, omdat ik werkelijk niets binnen kon houden. Gelukkig gaat het inmiddels wat beter en ben ik halve dagen op. Bovendien is het voor een goed doel, want....IK BEN ZWANGER!!!
Zo erg zwanger dat ik mijn spijkerbroeken niet meer dicht krijg. Wat toch feitelijk een wonder is, aangezien ik bijna niks heb gegeten afgelopen maand...
Because last month I was EXTREMELY sick. I saw the toilet a lot more than my own husband. For days I laid still in my bed hoping to stay calm and resting would make me feel less sick. After a while I got pills against dehydration. I'm happy to tell you I'm a little bit better now and I'm able to stay up for half a day. After all it's for a good reason, because....I'M PREGNANT!!!
So very pregnant I can't close my jeans anymore, which is quite a miracle, because I didn't eat almost anything last month...

En met dit nieuwe slachtoffer voor mijn haak- en breikunsten heb ik het internet weer eens afgestruind naar leuke patroontjes. En gevonden! Op deze website kan je de meest prachtige dingen vinden voor het voorjaar. Wat dacht je van deze sjaal?
